FORESHORE GUEST HOUSE POLICIES
By making a reservation ("booking") at the Foreshore Guest House you accept and agree to the policies listed below. Please take a few minutes to review these policies. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
Bookings can be requested by phone or internet; we do not accept walk-in guests. Bookings are accepted on condition that our guests will take reasonable care of the property and contents.
Our rates are quoted per night. They are based on single or double occupancy and include breakfast.
We require a 50% deposit at the time of booking. This deposit must be paid by credit card (Visa, MasterCard or Discover card), regardless of how your final payment will be made. By authorizing this payment, you also agree to give us authorization to charge your credit card in case of cancellation, no presentation ("no show") or Guest Damage (see below).
The balance of payment for your reservation must be received at least 14 days in advance of your check-in date. This payment may be made by Visa, MasterCard, Discover card, or Interac e-Transfer. We do not accept personal cheques.
Cancellations have a significant impact on our small business. Since a last minute cancellation provides little opportunity for re-booking, we have a strict cancellation policy:
If you cancel more than 2 weeks prior to your scheduled check-in, we will refund your deposit less a $25 administration fee. This fee will be waived if you make another booking at the Foreshore Guest House at the time of cancellation.
If you cancel within 2 weeks of your scheduled check-in, you will forfeit your 50% deposit. We will refund any other payment that you have made.
If you make a booking but do not use or do not cancel this booking (in other words, you are a "no-show"), then you will be responsible for full payment for the reserved dates. No refund will be given.
If you shorten your stay after arrival (that is, depart before the scheduled check-out date), you will be responsible for full payment of the original booking unless we are able to re-book the room.
Breakfast is served in our dining room between 8:00 am and 10:00 am. We can provide a self-serve Breakfast Basket on request, but require at least 24 hours notice to meet any such request.
Check-In and Check-Out Times
Check-in is between 3:00 pm and 7:00 pm. If you arrive on Salt Spring Island before 3:00 pm, we invite you to take in some of our local attractions. You can leave your bags with us if that would be helpful. If you are going to arrive after 7:00 pm, please advise us in advance. Check-out time is at 11:00 am. Late check-out may be available if we do not have new guests arriving that day.
We love children but operate an adult-oriented facility due to concerns about the safety of children on a property that has natural forest hazards, low-bank waterfront and bee hives.
We expect all guests to respect the premises of the Foreshore Guest House and uphold the quality of our accommodations. You will be responsible for any property damage or loss during your stay and agree to pay any costs associated with repairing any damage, replacing any stolen item(s), repairing or replacing any broken item(s), and/or carrying out any special clean-up. These costs will be charged to your credit card (see Booking above).
We will charge a fee of $25 for replacement of any lost key or key that is not returned at check-out.
Guests who choose to use the washer and dryer in our Foreshore Guest Suite must agree to use the detergent provided, follow the operating instructions posted beside the machine, and avoid use between 11:00 pm and 7:00 am.
We take reasonable steps and precautions to assure the safety of our guests. In making a booking at the Foreshore, however, you understand that you are staying at a country home and that there is certain exposure to wildlife (plants, animals and insects); walks, steps, paths and roads that are uneven; and hobby farming activities, including but not limited to bee-keeping. You acknowledge that use of the Foreshore facilities and grounds is at your own risk and accept all responsibilities for such use. You also acknowledge that we do not provide any recreational equipment such as watercraft for the use of our guests, nor provide a dock or boat launch facilities. You understand and acknowledge that there are special risks associated with activities in and around shorelines and water, and accept all responsibilities for your participation in any such activities.
To conserve water and protect the environment, we change bed sheets when occupancy changes or once a week, whichever comes first. If you request more frequent changes, there will be an additional charge for each change. We provide clean towels every three days.
We require a minimum stay of 3 nights during July and August and 2 nights during other months of the year.
We ask that guests keep noise down from 11:00 pm to 7:00 am, so that we can all get a good rest.
Number of Guests
Occupancy of the Foreshore Suite is limited to two persons. We do not have baby cots, roll-away beds or a sofa-bed to accommodate additional guests.
We love pets, but for the sake of all of our guests, pets are not permitted in the Foreshore Suite.
Phones & WiFi
We do not provide a phone in the Foreshore Guest Suite and do not guarantee dependable cell phone service. Cell coverage on Salt Spring Island is spotty at best and carrier-dependent. You can use our complimentary WiFi for internet communication by email, Skype or instant messenger. We advise our guests, however, that WiFi access is provided as a convenience only and we are not responsible for any speed, access problems, or lack of knowledge of use, and will not provide any refund of payment related to phone and WiFi services.
Smoking is not permitted in the Foreshore Suite or other parts of the building. You will be charged a $250 deep-cleaning fee if you violate this policy. You may smoke on the patio or grounds if there are no local fire restrictions in place, and provided you dispose of cigarettes and matches in a safe manner.
Complimentary Cable TV and Netflix service is provided to our guests as a convenience only, and we are not responsible for any outages, content, lack of content, speed, access problems, lack of knowledge of use, or personal preferences with regard to these services, and will not provide any refund of payment related to these services. We do not provide any "pay-per-view" or "video-on-demand" services.
We promote environmentally friendly wastewater treatment, and have an Ecoflo® septic system that uses coconut fibres as a filtering medium. We ask our guests to help us maintain the health and efficiency of our system. Please do not throw any of the following into the toilet: cigarette butts, disposable diapers, sanitary napkins and tampons, hand-wipes, trash, condoms, hair, bandages, coffee grounds, paper towels, anti-bacterial soaps, pills, and the like. And please follow our Water Conservation guidelines (see below). Careful water use will extend the life of our septic system.
Our water supply comes from an artesian well, and we are very conscious of the value of this resource. We promote the use of water conservation devices and practices in our home and small business. We ask our guests to respect our conservation efforts. Please do not take long showers; only run the dishwasher and do laundry when you have a full load; take advantage of the low flush option on our toilets whenever possible; do not leave the tap running when you are brushing your teeth; and keep linen changes to a minimum. By conserving water you will also help extend the life and efficiency of our septic system.
